This fast-growing American burger brand is due to launch the first Five Guys site outside of the US and Canada, and Blacksheep have been chosen to design their London flagship restaurant. Located on Long Acre (a stone’s throw from Covent Garden) and appropriately due to open on the 4th of July 2013 - American Independence day. A fantastic opportunity to introduce the UK market to this iconic American brand, the interior design will showcase their fresh hand-formed burgers cooked to perfection on a grill with all the toppings you could stuff between fresh-baked buns.

We are currently working on a new brand being launched to challenge the stereotype of low cost hotels, an experience that does not conform, one which goes beyond expectations and delivers effortless elegance (with a little London charm) to its guests.

The client approached Blacksheep to develop the brand strategy behind this concept, applying it to the design of the brand identity, guest experience and interior design of the hotel.

Premium all day dining brand Ca’puccino has become a haven for discerning consumers who appreciate exceptional service and authentic Italian food. With existing restaurants in Harrods and London’s Westfield, the established brand has a reputation to keep, but is looking to expand to suitable locations and to diversify to meet the demands of the UK market.

Ca’puccino has appointed Blacksheep as brand guardians, to develop and evolve the existing brand essence across exciting opportunities in the UK and Italy, including a new offer at Heathrow’s Terminal 2 implementing a restaurant, take away and Chocogelateria.

Despite widespread snow up and down the country there was an impressive turn out for The Hospitality Show, a biennial three-day event held at Birmingham’s NEC showcasing exhibitors, speakers, business mentors & hundreds of chef competitors.

Blacksheep CEO Tim Mutton kicked off the afternoon on the Design Inspiration Stage with a 'Delve into the minds of 3 of Britain's foremost designers & architects', a panel discussion alongside Tina Norden from Conran and Giles Robinson of Foster+Partners, hosted by Stirling Johnstone, Editor of GS Magazine. He then led the afternoon’s seminar programme with a talk on Designing Brands & Concepts, with his personal insight into the design process and how an ‘oops’ moment can lead to bigger and better design solutions.

It has been an eventful and exciting twelve months for Blacksheep. January saw us moving office and relocate to the new studio in Vine Hill, a fantastic way to begin the year that we celebrated our 10th anniversary. The Flock members have collectively travelled to over 20 countries across 4 continents in the pursuit of designing inspiring spaces for our global clients, and we have continued to grow in size to 30 strong. We have won 5 awards and had 8 projects feature in 7 books, along with over 120 individual press items in publications such as bob, FX, Objekt, Time-Out, Tatler Hong Kong, Deco Home, Interior and Bar Magazine.

2013 promises to be equally as exciting as we unveil 7 new F&B offers for a hotel in Dubai, a new brand of low cost hotel in London (for which designed the complete branding and interior package), and the first UK site for a leading American burger chain.

It comes at an exciting time, as Blacksheep continues in our successful relationship with Jamie’s Italian and 2013 will see the concept opening of our first international sites. We are currently on site with restaurants at the luxury 5 Star Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai and at VivoCity, Singapore's largest retail and lifestyle destination.

Boujis Members club has long been established as one of the premium nightlife destinations in London and has played host to some of the World’s most influential and glamorous crowds. Blacksheep were asked to export their highly successful brand to the Asian market, designing a new club in the Soho district of Hong Kong.

The challenge was to ensure that the strong brand image that had been established in the UK was successfully translated into this new market, responding to cultural differences and creating a unique experience and design aesthetic.

Blacksheep created zones within the space to allow for a change in ambience, from early evening cocktails in the laid back lounge seamlessly adapting to a nightclub venue hosting world class acts, global celebrity and society highflyers.

The design language was led by understanding the brand personality of Boujis, what the guests expect and demand of them; sophistication, elegance, attention to detail, and most importantly, inherently British. The result is a blend of traditional British design, drawing inspiration from colonial heritage detailing, but executed in a contemporary manner and using evocative materials; warm timbers, brass fittings and plush furnishings. State-of-the-art sound and lighting systems are integrated into timber panelled walls and ceilings, a Georgian ceiling detail has been modernised with internally lit LEDs dispersing light neon halo, and the feature back bar subtly reveals a glowing Union flag from the gold smoked mirror.

We worked with local contractors to execute and implement the design, overseeing that all production maintained a high level of quality, finish and craftsmanship.

Before opening in October 2012, Boujis Hong Kong already had 200 members, with a 150 person waiting list and a total cap of 1000, demand for membership is likely to be a must have among Hong Kong jetsetters and VVIPs.
