Fans of Red's True Barbecue believe that the caramelising of meat is sacramental. In the hot and smoky religion of barbecue, Red is high priest and miracle-worker-in-chief.
Our own miracles are conceptual and practical. For the design of the Red's second outlet (in a former bank in Leeds) we added a nod to finance. Our religion-meets-money concept married brand values with site heritage. It gave us zone-based gags (toilets as deposit boxes, back-of-house as vault) and a venue with an unmistakeable Red twist. The overall effect is edgy and darkly humorous – everything that Red believes in.
