The purity and serenity of a 14th-century monastery reimagined
Brand Strategy | Interior Design
Guests have high expectations of a Mandarin Oriental; they delight in the service and individuality. Which is why it was a privilege to develop a new experience for the public spaces of a hotel that used to be a monastery dating from the 14th-century.
Our concept – a celebration of sacred moments – blends the purity of the building's roots with the Mandarin Oriental's exacting standards. The treatment, which involves materials such as naturally finished walnut, raw metal, and gently worn brass, is humble and respectful. In this serene space, we pay homage to the generations that have – and still do – find solace within its walls.
