Sloane Street

Hermès flagship store located in London’s Sloane Street, offers a high-end retail experience. As Hermès’ coordinating designer within the UK, Blacksheep helped develop, implement and deliver the exacting design standards required for the ultra-premium luxury brand.

Hermès is a luxury global retail brand with exacting high standards of design and store environment. As Hermès UK based Coordinating Architect, Blacksheep’s role was to work closely with Hermès and their preferred suppliers, located in Europe and the UK, to deliver the new bespoke retail concept into its new location. Further challenges also included maintaining relationships with the adjacent 5 star Jumerah Hotel through the duration of the project.

Hermès GB approached Blacksheep to collaborate on the audacious project of moving their existing Sloane Street Store to a new location further down Sloane Street to the corner of Cadogan Place.

The site is located in the 3 storey wing of what was the Carlton Tower Hotel designed by Micheal Rosenauer, who also designed the Time and Life building in New Bond Street; home to Hermès  London flagship store. The unit, formerly a branch of Coutts Bank was stripped back to the existing shell retaining the existing safes and bank infrastructure in the basement.

The building had to be structurally modified before it could become the new Hermès Store with the introduction of structural openings for the new feature staircase and glass structural lift linking all floors.

The fit out was a collaboration of a proactive General Contractor and artisan trades including specialist plasterers, painters and Hermès’ own craftsmen.
